Day 3 of food and Mezcal in Oaxaca with legendary Oaxaqueño Dari and friends from home; Harrison, Boonie & Joey.

Waking up hangover-free after a bottle of Mezcal and a case of Modelos the night before is a frightening phenomenon.
You start to question everything. You start to confront what you think you know.
Where’s my hangover?
Haven’t I earned it?
You may even start to get suspicious of commercial booze.
Are they the true culprit when you’re writhing around in bed the morning after, wishing you’d puke and feel better, shit and feel better or just fucking die for and be granted sweet release? Because surely it’s not normal to wake up feeling completely fine after trying 35 Mezcals followed by a third of a bottle of more Mezcal and like, a litre of beer.
Probably wise not to look too closely. Probably best not to think about it too much.
Gift horses and mouths and all that.
Day Three’s agenda took us to the municipality of Santa Catarina Minas and two of its Mezcaleros producing pretty astoundingly different Mezcals despite being down the road from each other. The region is notable for the use of clay pot distilling. But first… to breakfast.
